Abstract

The author analyzed the electroencencephalographic findings of 60 cases of brain tumor investigated by cranial computed tomography.
Only 16.7% were read as "within normal limit" in 60 cases of brain tumor which were investigated by cranial computed tomography.
Electroencephalographic records showed polymorphic delta activity (FMD) in 52.9% of 60 patients involving white matter and intermittent rhythmic delta activity (IRDA) in only 21.7% involving white & gray matter.
This incidence of a abnormal electroencephalographic findings in brain tumor is relatively high compared to that of other focal intracranial lesion except cerebral infarct.
The focal abnormalities of electroencephalography were found in 58.3% of 60 cases.
The study leads to the conclusion that edema per se in relatively less responsible (10-17%) for the electroencephalographic abnormalities.
Therefore we concluded the recording of electroencephalography are relatively useful method in investigating brain tumor.
